These are comprehensive grades.
In determining them, we looked at votes on the floor and in committee.
We weighted sponsorships and cosponsorships.
And, knowing that some of the most important work is done in the day-to-day grind of getting good bills to the floor, we weighed each lawmaker’s daily work and effort throughout the legislative session to support or oppose efforts to lower healthcare costs.
The grades range from A+ to F. Those legislators who earned an A+ grade are crowned this year’s Affordable Healthcare Champions.
These Affordable Healthcare Champions worked tirelessly to pass bills that will lower healthcare costs for North Carolina businesses, workers, and their families.
We have new laws on the books that will make a real and positive difference in people’s lives because of their efforts this session.
Seven bills were scored during the legislative session. All seven bills were supported by the Coalition as they would each have resulted in lower cost and higher quality healthcare.
Of the bills scored, three are now law. These include:
- Legislation removing government red tape to allow for greater investments in better, more affordable healthcare
- Medicaid expansion & Certificate of Need reform
- Foster care improvements
Please join the Affordable HealthcareCoalition in commending all legislators who worked tirelessly to lower healthcare costs for North Carolina consumers.
