The NC legislature is debating a state budget that will likely increase teacher salaries across the board. Other Senate proposals include cutting tuition to UNC-Pembroke and Western Carolina to $500 dollars a semester and spending $500,000 on...get this...mussels. (They’re supposed to help clean up toxic algae in Lake Jordan.)
