Republicans failed to pass a new healthcare bill to replace Obamacare. (Sigh.) People have lots of opinions on how to move forward. Here are what some are saying in our latest opinion roundup.
- Billionaire Mark Cuban has proposed scrapping insurance companies from the American healthcare system entirely. His suggestion? Adopting a healthcare system similar to Britain's or Australia's.
- Senator Susan Collins (one of the three Republican senators who sunk the bill) says it's time to start building healthcare bills through the committee process.
- Three writers for the New York Times say that repairing the healthcare law is "tricky but not impossible." They say that stabilizing the market, lowering drug prices and expanding access to coverage would go a long way in easing the concerns of millions of Americans.
- David Frum, senior editor of The Atlantic and former speechwriter for President Bush, says the way for Republicans to fix American healthcare is "incremental reform in a conservative direction."
- The Washington Post suggests four ways Republicans could still take action on Obamacare. (Pushing off tax reform and working closer with Democrats are both on the list.)
- CNN says that the future of Obamacare and a subsequent healthcare bill replacement is "anyone's guess."
- And lastly, President Trump continues to blast Obamacare and hasn't given up hope for a new healthcare bill. He's been urging Republicans to come together - in a series of tweets of course.
