Every region of our state experiences fall uniquely: while the chill starts early in the mountains, the warmth of summer runs until well after Hallowe’en east of I-95. While Asheville is enjoying vibrant leaves splashed across the hillsides, our friends on the coast are still hitting the beach.
That means you may be lounging around the deep fryer in a T-shirt this Thanksgiving or hanging out by a fireplace somewhere with a plate full of pie. Either way, we hope you enjoy the heck out of some chicken and dumplings, barbecue, collard green, butterbeans, black-eyed peas and sweet potatoes (our state vegetable!) with marshmallows. And we hope you’re surrounded by family and friends.
Happy Thanksgiving, North Carolina. We’re grateful just to live in this amazing, beautiful state, here with all of you.
