Employee wellness programs are pretty popular among American companies. A new survey out by the Society for Human Resource Management found that 78% of surveyed businesses used them. That number is more than 20% higher than it was a few decades ago.
But certain kinds of programs have been going out of style recently — noteworthily, premium discounts. You’re not as likely to get cheaper healthcare if you’ve cut out that tobacco habit. In fact, you’re more likely to get penalized if you do smoke.
Carrot or stick? Stick, apparently.
